U-Vint Wine

Gabriola Wine Cellar

A cost-effective way to craft your own premium beers, wines, and ciders.

Our Process

On Premise wine making from kits. We also make beer from scratch and cider from fresh juice.

What's involved?

Firstly, you will select – with our help if you need it – the wine kit of your choice. After you pay for your kit, you will be asked to sign a bailment contract, which for legal purposes moves ownership of the soon-to-be wine from us to you, and acknowledges that you are making wine for personal use only (not for resale).

Bottling Day

We will inform you when your wine is ready for bottling and you can select a day/time to come in. We’ll have your wine ready for you to bottle, which is easy and fun with our bottle filler and corker. You can bring your own bottles to re-use – clean and sanitize them with the use of our bottle washing system – or you may purchase new bottles in-store.

Preparing the wine for fermentation

We will then pour the liquid contents of your kit into a sanitized primary pail. To ensure you are legally making the wine, you will add the yeast (but we can help you with this). Once your must (wine-to-be) is mixed, we attach a log card with pertinent information such as date started, wine type and your contact information. We then move it into the ‘in-progress’ section of our store with many other full pails and carboys. Then we wait…4 to 6 weeks depending on your kit.

Enjoy your new wine

Once bottling is complete, you’ll have about 28-30 bottles of wine which can be personalized with custom labels and decorative shrink caps.

You can now enjoy a glass of wine from your own wine rack, not the wine store.
